special ! the engagement

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

The day went off without a glitch and it was all because so many of the people i cared about was there to make it complete. There's so many people i would like to give my biggest and warmest thanks to.

To my aunties and cousins - thanks for staying up late and making the place so beautiful. I could never have imagined that my home could look as gorgeous as it did that day.

To my besties Yan and Ahmad - I don't have many girlfriends, so thank you Ahmad for being there throughout the whole ceremony and taking pictures of every lil detail....even down to my shoes. Thank you Yan for making me look awesome. Even when you're not here, you still manage to always take care of me in some way. I love you guys.

To my family - I have the best any girl could ask for. Thank you for being so chill and supportive that i never  had to freak out even once. Thank you Lin for the catering and serving all my favorites. Sambal Udang Petai yo! Thank you Akak for standing beside me the whole time so i felt a lil less awkward and not at all lost. And thank you Mi for running around getting kuih and supporting in ways that made this day possible. You guys are so awesome.

A special shout out to my dearest Mom - I knew you would make it beautiful... but thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it all ... me. You know me so well... from choosing the vintage trinkets, the wild flowers and even adding bits of my favorite colors everywhere (i know orange is a hard colour to work with). It all meant so much more to me then you can ever imagine.

Finally to my kawan. Thank you. For it all.

And thank you to all who came and for the well wishes and blessings.

DIY ! my very own Sour Plum keychain

Thursday, July 18, 2013

I recommend everyone to have a go at shrink paper. It's fun, easy and really just brings the kid out of you.

Draw and cut out your design. Bake it in the oven. And watch it shrink. Pretty awesome right?

Now that i've made a batch of my very own Sour Plum Jam, i thought i'd try it with some freshly baked cupcakes.

eats ! sour plum's homemade sour plum jam

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Did you know... that the difference between a preserve and a jam is that preserves have chunks of fruit in them while the fruits in jams are crushed or pureed? Then there's jelly which is even more smoother since it's made from the juice of the fruit and not the pulp. Hm.. interesting. So, technically, this is a Sour Plum preserve.

Well, this is the simpler version of making jam.  Go ahead and try it yourself. Add some spice or mix it with other fruits. Make it your own.
